Reversing self-shaming narratives
A simple awareness practice
For those of us who have been exposed to spiritual victim shaming and are sensitive to the nuances of self-abuse.
Instead of adhering to a belief or philosophy and instead of automatically embracing a spiritual attitude, take a few re-centering breaths into your Heart and solar plexus.
Let’s say you catch yourself believing in “forgive and let go of this person or these people” and rushing into a stance you have believed or believe to be spiritual and correct.
Try reversing this dynamic and redirecting the focus onto your own Power, but in a Self-loving way.
Instead of believing you have to forgive or rush to accommodate other perspectives and people, see if you can feel this:
“By giving too much energy to those people or that situation, which might indeed by hurtful or indifferent towards others or may indeed be not ok, I am not taking care of my Self. I should instead redirect the focus onto me and what I can do right now”.
So instead of making it always about accommodating some more spiritual and tolerant attitude, you are nourishing and strengthening your Inner Sanctum, your own creativity and Spirit.
